November 2, 2012 Wine Women & Wealth Expo Benefits VOW

In our 11 years of existence, VOW has raised funds for many groups locally and globally whose mission aligns with ours. On November 2nd the tables were turned and for the first time, a group raised funds for VOW. The first annual Wine Women & Wealth Expo drew nearly 150 women from all over San Diego County, along with 25 exhibitors, for an action-packed day that inspired and uplifted as it educated and empowered.

Created by Mara Hoover and Denise Arand of Five Rings Financial, it was a day long event held at the Del Mar Hilton bringing like-minded women together to enjoy a day of networking, education, fashion, fun, friendship and philanthropy.

Local politician Francine Busby was the first speaker of the morning, inspiring the crowd to let their voices be heard in the national election of 2012, while reminding us that it was not until 1920 that women were allowed to vote and how hard-won that right was.

Next we heard from author and coach, Jenifer L. Madson who inspired us to help change our relationship with money and claim the wealth we deserve.

Our own Jenni Prisk was the keynote speaker receiving a standing ovation for her impassioned talk about The Wisdom of Women Around the World and VOW’s mission.

Expo creators Denise and Mara were the afternoon speakers sharing their story of friendship and collaboration as they educate women about money and wealth management.

With fashion shows in the morning by Jockey and in the afternoon by Chico’s, modeled by VOW Board Directors, along with terrific food, numerous raffle drawings for fabulous prizes, and a guided wine tasting at the end, the Expo fulfilled its goal of being both exhilarating and empowering.

Best of all, at the conclusion of the day, VOW was presented with a giant check for $5,423, amidst cheers and tears of joy and gratitude. With donations still pouring in from exhibiting vendors, VOW will receive close to $6,500. The money will be used to create and produce educational programs for women and children.
